When you graduate from college, you are usually on the lookout for a job where you can use the skills you have learned. Many factors come into play regarding your ability to find work, but one of the most important factors is the location of the job.

ZipRecruiter used their database to find the cities in the U.S. that are more likely to hire a college graduate and they found that the western area of the U.S. is more likely to hire an entry-level college graduate, particularly in the technology field.

A private immigration firm that helps foreign nationals is USAFIS, an independently-owned service that helps people through the immigration process to get moved to the United States.

ZipRecruiter reviewed seven million different jobs throughout the U.S. to find the ratio of entry-level jobs for college graduates with the number of applicants.

They also considered the jobs that are actually available at the time of the report. The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington area in Minnesota and Wisconsin proved to be the region with the most college-entry jobs that are available.

The top industry in that area is technology and the top job is a software engineer. USAFIS reports that there are many new work opportunities available for foreign nationals who want to move to the U.S. to find new jobs.

Twenty cities stand out as having the best job markets for college graduates and eight of those cities are located in the western area of the United States. After Minnesota and Wisconsin, the next place with great college-level job opportunities is Kansas City, Missouri; the top position there is an account manager.

The 3rd best area is the Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton region, which is located in Oregon and Washington, and the top entry-level position is a project manager.

The 4th best area for a college graduate is the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue region located in Washington, and the top job for a college graduate is a registered nurse. The 5th best place is the Indianapolis-Carmel area, which is located in Indiana, and the top entry-level job is a project manager.
